Our Story

From Badhamo to Filwuha

The Amibara Group traces back to Haji Abdultaif Omer, born in 1968 in a small town near Ethiopia's Afar region. In 1994, at just 26 years old, he leased 800 hectares of land in Badhamo, in the Afar Regional State — the founding chapter of Amibara Agriculture, which has since grown to more than 7,391 hectares under cultivation.

Success in agriculture opened the door to diversification. The group founded the Awash Biscuit & Flour Factory, expanded into long-haul logistics with Amibara Transport, and took on its largest acquisition yet with the Addis Modjo Edible Oil Complex — a name now familiar in households across the region. In 2004, the group added aviation to its portfolio with Amibara General Aviation Services (AGAS), and later Amibara Trading, which imports essential commodities and is expanding into coffee exports.

In 2022, under the leadership of Mohammed Abdulatif Omer, the group's newest venture was born: Amibara Properties — a landmark 35,751 sqm residential development near Friendship Park in Filwuha, at the very centre of Addis Ababa.

Development

Elevated living in every size

Located near Friendship Park in Filwuha, our development spans 35,751 square metres — making it one of the largest and most ambitious residential projects in Addis Ababa. More than a residential compound, it is shaping the future of the city, both aesthetically and in lifestyle: two towers, Ertale A & B, rising 17 floors above world-class amenities, three basement parking levels, and hospital-size elevators throughout.

At Amibara Properties, we believe where you live should reflect how you live — which is why every unit is built to honour the legacy of ambition that defines the Amibara name. Welcome to the Amibara family.
